Xiegu G90
First impressions
Yesterday, my new Xiegu G90 rig showed up to my content. I was thinking of buying a small rig for field operation with the local gang, mainly SOTA, and my Icom IC-705 was too valuable to put at the service on a rough environment. So, I decided to go for the cute G90.
The reason I chose this rig was because of the price. To be honest, I own more gear than I need, and spending more than 500 bucks on a radio was not in my plans.
After a firmware upgrade, to version 1.81, I managed to work a handfull of POTA stations on CW and some random QSOs on SSB.
I struggled with AGC, specially in CW with AGC-A and AGC-F, as some popping sounds were coming along side with the audio. I switched to AGC off and adjusted the RF gain to my needs. That popping sounds disappeared. If someone knows if this is a glitch, please let me know. You can find my email on QRZ.com.
Now, some videos of my yesterday’s test.
