My hamradio experiences

Arctic & Antarctica

I am drawn to the polar regions

I cannot precisely articulate why I am drawn to issues concerning the polar regions, both in the North and South. In my hobby of amateur radio, I have always been fascinated by radio contacts with scientific expeditions at various Antarctic bases, as well as expeditions to the Arctic polar circle. Of course, DX’peditions to these places as well.

Speaking of the Arctic, I enjoy the podcast Radio Arctic.

Here’s a video of the 3Y0K Dx’pedition to Bouvet Island, operation on QO-100 satellite:

Another one of 3Y0K on 15m SSB, operated by Alex, DL2ALY:

Here’s some QSL cards of contacts to Antarctica:

In Nunavut (Inuktitut: ᓄᓇᕗᑦ), the newest, largest in land area, northernmost, and the second least populated of all Canadian territories, there is an amateur radio station with the call sign VY0ERC, belonging to the Eureka Amateur Radio Club.

Ridge Lab, VY0ERC

I will be updating this post with new information.
